Thanksgiving weekend is almost here! With Thanksgiving comes great food, Black Friday shopping, and spending time with loved ones. It’s not always easy deciding what to do with your family while they are in town for the holidays. We have listed some of our favorite events around Atlanta for this Thanksgiving weekend!
Sporting Events
Basketball:
The Atlanta Hawks will be in town during the holiday playing at Philips Arena:
vs. Toronto Raptors: Wednesday, November 26, 7:30pm
vs. New Orleans Pelicans: Friday, November 28, 7:30pm
vs. Charlotte Hornets, Saturday November 29, 7:30pm
Going to see an Atlanta Hawks game is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. Depending on where you want to sit, it can be a cost effective way to spend an evening this holiday weekend.
Football:
The Georgia Bulldogs will have their yearly rival game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Sanford Stadium in Athens, on Saturday November 29th, 12:00pm. This rivalry game is played every year on Thanksgiving weekend, and has been called the “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” game.
With only 70 miles separating the two schools, this has been a heated rival since 1893. There are still plenty of tickets left on the secondary market for this game, and prices are less-expensive than this past weekend’s UGA vs. Auburn game.
While there will be some teams playing on Thanksgiving Day, the Atlanta Falcons will be playing on Sunday, with a 4:05pm kick-off time vs. the Arizona Cardinals. This gives fans plenty of time to head down to one of the tailgating-friendly parking lots and get a little celebration in before the game. What better way to spend a Thanksgiving weekend than to watch football with your family?
