Atlanta is a bustling city full of business, commerce and social activities. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or just enjoying your day off as a native Atlantan, it can be tough to decide what to do on any particular day. Check out some of our favorite things to do in Atlanta!
Attend a Sporting Event
No matter what time of year it is, there will most likely be a professional sports game happening! Atlanta has some great sports teams including the Hawks, Falcons and Braves.
The Atlanta Hawks are on a hot streak! The Hawks have a 20-7 record and are currently first in their division. Attending a game at Philips Arena is exciting and fun for the whole family. And there’s a lot of great dining options at the arena as well.
While the NFL’s season is winding down, the Falcons are still in the running for a playoff spot. Depending on this week’s game against the Panthers, there may be some exciting playoff games in Atlanta in the future!
Baseball season is approaching quickly, and Atlanta is getting excited for the Braves to start playing again! We can hear “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” already. And for those fans eager to reserve their seat, 2015 Atlanta Braves tickets are already on sale!
See a Show
Atlanta has great venues for seeing plays or off-Broadway shows. My favorite venue is the Fabulous Fox Theatre, located in midtown Atlanta.
Not only do they host some great musical acts such as Sam Smith and John Mellencamp, but they host shows such as the Nutcracker and Wicked. The Fox is even has comedy shows, such as Jerry Seinfeld coming in February, and Georgia-native Jeff Foxworthy is coming in April!
Listen to Live Music
There are many great venues for seeing a live show in Atlanta. From larger concerts at the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena, to smaller more intimate venues such as the Tabernacle, to outdoor venues such as Chastain Park. There is something for everyone!
Atlanta has some great concerts coming in the new year, such as Fleetwood Mac, Chris Brown, Maroon 5, Billy Joel and even Taylor Swift. There’s always an event worth seeing on any day of the week!
Visit a Brewery
Did someone say beer? Atlanta is home to many up and coming craft breweries. While the city is mostly known for Sweetwater and their famous 420 brew, there are many other breweries worth checking out:
- Monday Night Brewing
- Three Taverns
- Orpheus
- Red Hare
- Red Brick
- Wild Heaven
- Blue Tarp
- Jekyll
Many of these breweries give small tours for around $10, which includes hefty samples of beer and a collectible pint glass. My personal favorite is the Drafty Kilt scotch ale from Monday Night Brewing!
These breweries are located all over Atlanta, from midtown to Alpharetta, so wherever you go there should be a location nearby!
Check Out a Local Atlanta Attraction
Atlanta has many fun activities to check out, and a lot of them are very close to each other in downtown Atlanta:
- The Georgia Aquarium
- World of Coca-Cola
- College Football Hall of Fame
- CNN Center (They give studio tours!)
- Centennial Olympic Park
- The Atlanta Zoo
