Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals
For this week’s Atlanta Game of the Week, we look to sunny Kissimmee, Florida. Atlanta Braves Spring Training is in full swing, and we couldn’t be more excited! This week, the Braves have five spring training games at their home venue, Champion Stadium:
- 3/10/2015- Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets
- 3/11/2015- Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals
- 3/13/2015- Atlanta Braves vs. Detroit Tigers
- 3/15/2015- Atlanta Braves vs. Toronto Blue Jays
The Braves go up against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday, March 11th. This is sure to be a great game, as the St. Louis Cardinals were division champions in 2014. On another note, outfielder Jason Heyward was traded this off season to the Cardinals for pitcher Shelby Miller. Heyward was a fan favorite in Atlanta, and Braves fans were very sad to see him traded. Fortunately these Braves game tickets are still available.
Atlanta Braves Spring Training
Spring training is a great time to see your favorite team in action, in a more intimate setting. The Atlanta Braves play in a great venue, Champion Stadium, which is located at Disney World!
While spring training is a great place to watch your favorite players, it’s more like practice for the players. It’s a great time for the team to get in sync, and those battling for positions are put to the test. Player’s health and skill are evaluated, as well as how they adapt to the team.
Players to Watch
The Atlanta Braves have definitely had a busy off season, trading popular players such as Jason Heyward, Evan Gattis, and Justin Upton. Outfielder Melvin Upton (formerly known as BJ Upton) is also suffering from an injury, will miss all of spring training and likely the first part of the regular season. Additionally, new outfielder Nick Markakis is recovering from surgery. This gives the Braves a chance to put many of their newly acquired players to the test.
