The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game has been dubbed the “Daytona 500” of the college football season. Two top-ranked teams meet in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in early September to kick off the college football season in earnest.
On September 9, 2015, the Auburn Tigers and Louisville Cardinals will line up in the Dome in another SEC and ACC matchup. As with years past, there’s a lot on the line for these two teams.
The #6 Auburn Tigers have received a lot of preseason praise for the 2015 squad – the Associated Press places the Tigers in the national championship game.
The Louisville Cardinals are ranked in the top 25 and want to challenge Florida State at the top of the ACC Atlantic division for a spot in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coach Bobby Petrino’s Cardinals get an early test with a tough, top ten opponent.
Since 2008, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, NC State, Virginia Tech and Boise State have made this early-season game a thrilling start to the season – especially as other top teams compete in tune-up games ahead of their conference schedules.
