Turner Field celebrated its last Major League Baseball Opening Day by witnessing two division rivals battle in what could be described as a back and forth roller coaster of thrills.
Braves Opening Day Results
After the hometown heroes took a 3 – 2 lead in the 8th inning, the Washington Nationals tied the game in the ninth after Michael Taylor’s sacrifice fly ball to center field, allowing Jayson Werth to slide safely across home plate.
As both teams went into extra innings, Wilson Ramos was able to knock a single off of Jason Grilli, who was returning to the mound after rupturing his led Achilles last July. Once on base, Danny Espinosa offered a sacrifice bunt that landed perfectly in no man’s land around the first-base line.
What To Look Forward To On Wednesday
Despite the minor setback, the Braves are looking to redeem themselves and even up the score this Wednesday as they take on the National’s at Turner Field once again.
This time, Atlanta is prepared to send out Bud Norris to the pitcher’s mound to help manage the two-game series. For Norris, Wednesday night’s game is also a chance for redemption as he looks to recover after posting a disappointing 6.72 ERA between the Orioles and Padres last season.
