The Atlanta Braves kick off their three-game series against the Arizona Diamonbacks tonight at Turner Field.
Overcoming The Odds
Both Saturday and Sunday’s games take place in Atlanta, which gives the home team the opportunity to turn their dismal season around, despite being 1 for 12 at home this year. Zack Greinke opened up last year’s season, allowing 24 runs to go by. In order to overcome that, he’ll need to find a way to maintain several scoreless-inning streaks or possibly take some time off.
And, although the D-backs may feel confident that Greinke can turn things around by taking on the team that currently commands the word record in Major League Baseball, Arizona will need to overcome the NL CY Young runner-up Arron Blair and Right Fielder Jeff Francoeur who has a 333. batting average against Greinke.
“I started throwing off-speed for strikes, keeping them off balance,” Blair said. “Even when I didn’t make the perfect pitch they were still hitting the ball right at guys.”.
The Diamondbacks are currently 12-18 this season and will enter Atlanta having lost six straight games after their 4-0 shutout against the Marlins.
