The National Basketball Association released the schedule for all 30 teams today. There is a good chance that the most expensive game of the season will be on Christmas Day when LeBron James returns to Miami as a Cleveland Cavalier.
Cavs season tickets sold out as soon as James announced his return to Cleveland. Prior to his decision, the team was valued just under $300 million by Forbes. His return increased the franchises’ value to over $500 million.
Games to look for this season
I’ve already included my favorite NBA game of the season, as I’m excited to see ticket prices on the secondary market. I’m also wondering if James will receive a standing ovation for bringing two championship to Miami – or if he’ll be booed. My guess is that there will be mixed emotions.
- Of the three opening night games, I’m eager to watch the Mavericks and Spurs.
- LeBron James comes to the ATL on December 30 and March 6. Both games will probably sell-out.
- The Bulls and the Lakers will compete at the Madhouse on Madison on Christmas day.
- The Hawks host the Pistons on Martin Luther King Day. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
Players to Watch
Kevin Love
Love was the centerpiece to the biggest trade this off-season. He plays a solid interior game and also stretches the court with his 3-pt ability. I expect him to average 25 points and 14 rebounds this season.
Carmelo Anthony
Three full-seasons in New York and the team has not advanced past the second round. He was the recipient of a massive contract and will need to play more consistent in the first-half of the season if the Knicks want to be serious contenders.
