Atlanta Braves Vs. New York Mets
You may be wondering how the Atlanta Game of the Week involves the Atlanta Braves. It’s not baseball season is it? Braves Opening Day isn’t until April 10th! As a matter of fact, the Atlanta Braves are playing a game this week, though it isn’t in Atlanta. Spring training is underway in Kissimmee, Florida, and the Braves are preparing to play their first game. We are so excited for baseball season, the spring training home opener has earned the title of Atlanta Game of the Week!
Opening Day
The Atlanta Game of the Week at Champion Stadium will take place Wednesday, March 4th, at 1:05 pm.
One reason to be excited about the first spring training game: it’s against the New York Mets. This should be a great preview for the regular season 2015 Braves home opener on April 10th at Turner Field, which is also against the Mets.
The Braves are playing without a key part of their offense, center-fielder BJ Upton. Upton, now going by the name Melvin Upton Jr, has sustained a foot injury and will be out for the duration of spring training. But this will give the Braves a chance to work out some other center-field options, such as Eric Young Jr and Eury Perez.
Champion Stadium
There are plenty of reasons to attend a Braves spring training game: the Atlanta Braves have an amazing spring training facility, Champion Stadium, which is located at Disney! What better way to visit the happiest place on Earth than to see the Braves play while you’re there? The stadium is built like a miniature version of a major league baseball stadium, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Disney characters visit during the game, and there are many fun activities to keep younger fans enthralled.
The Braves have some exciting opponents this year for spring training, including the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. While the spring training home opener has us excited, check out the rest of the schedule! Tickets for these Braves baseball games can be found at a very affordable price compared to regular season games!
