While Atlanta has some great concert venues such as Aaron’s Amphitheater, Philips Arena and the Georgia Dome, the city also has some great, smaller venues. Check out some of the shows happening in Atlanta this weekend!
Phillip Phillips
Atlanta Symphony Hall, November 6
American Idol’s Season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips will be performing at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Thursday evening. His 2012 hit, “Home” went quadruple platinum, and his album The World from the Side of the Moon went platinum and to #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. The Georgia-born singer released his second album, Behind the Light, on May 19, 2014. With inspirations such as Dave Matthews, Damien Rice and Stevie Wonder, Phillip Phillips is a unique artist with a great voice. Such hits such as, “Gone, Gone, Gone” and “Raging Fire” are sure to get the crowd on their feet.
Atlanta Symphony Hall is the home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra which is now in its 69th season. Located in Midtown Atlanta, in the Woodruffs Art Center, the venue can seat 1,762 on three levels.

Aretha Franklin
Fox Theatre, November 8
Aretha Franklin has become the first woman and fourth artist to achieve 100 career titles on the Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “An Evening With Aretha Franklin,” her latest tour, comes to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre this Saturday evening. Fans can expect to hear hits such as, “Respect,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Think.” Though she is 72 years old, that doesn’t mean Franklin is slowing down. She has won 18 Grammy awards is one of the all-time best selling female artists.
The Fox Theatre is a former movie palace, and now a performing arts venue located in Midtown Atlanta. The theater, open since 1929, seats 4,678 and hosts such events as the Atlanta Ballet, Broadway shows, and popular musicians.

Primus and The Chocolate Factory
The Tabernacle, November 8
Primus will be performing at the Tabernacle Saturday night, as part of their fall tour to support their new album. Primus originally formed in 1984, and have switched various band members along with taking a few hiatuses over the years. Primus has been categorized into many different genres of music: alternative rock, alternative metal, experimental rock, funk metal, and progressive rock. Their eighth studio album, is a tribute to the 1971 musical Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
The Tabernacle is located in downtown Atlanta. It began in 1910 as a church and medical center. The venue lay vacant for some time until the 1996 Olympics, when the building was converted into a house of blues. Since then, the building has been used as a music venue and owned by various parties. Currently, The Tabernacle can seat 2,600 fans and is owned by LiveNation.
Primus will take the stage at The Tabernacle November 8th at 8:00 pm.
