The Black Keys are a rock band from Akron, Ohio formed in 2001. The group consists of just two members, Dan Auerbach on guitar and vocals and Patrick Carney on drums. They began small, playing in dive bars, recording in basements and have been known as a “garage rock” band.
The Black Keys Rise to #1
The group’s real breakthrough came in 2010 with their album Brothers, which produced the popular single, “Tighten Up”, and won three Grammy Awards. The Keys’ 2011 followup album El Camino went to number two on the Billboard 200 chart, and their first arena concert tour followed, aptly named the “El Camino Tour.” Three more Grammy Awards were added to the Black Key’s collection from the album and it’s hit single, “Lonely Boy.” In 2014, they released their eighth album, Turn Blue, earning their first number one record.
The Turn Blue Tour
Now the Black Keys are on the road again to promote Turn Blue, with 48 arena dates through December. This is a far cry from the Beachland Ballroom in Akron, Ohio, where the Keys played their first show, earning only $10.
The Keys have added two musicians, bassist Richard Swift and keyboardist John Wood to their supplement their stage performance. The show has already received rave reviews from cities who have already had the pleasure of hosting the Keys.
The Black Keys at Philips Arena
The pair will perform at Philips Arena on Thursday, December 11th at 8:00pm. The Keys’ set includes more than 20 songs from their 13-year repertoire, with favorite hits from past albums, along with a few new songs from the new Turn Blue album. Jake Bugg, Cage the Elephant, and St. Vincent will take turns on legs of the tour as opening acts. St. Vincent, an American singer/songwriter will be opening for the Keys for the Atlanta show. She has worked with such artists as Death Cab for Cutie, Kid Cudi and Bon Iver.
Don’t miss seeing the Black Keys and St. Vincent play live at Philips Arena on December 11th. There are still plenty of tickets left on the secondary market.
