Many fantasy leagues end “regular season” play in Week 14. It is now Week 11, and it’s definitely time to be serious with your fantasy pick-ups! Don’t forget to make use of the waiver wire and keep and eye on that trade deadline!
Busts
Charles Sims, Tampa Bay, (RB)
Charles Sims’ NFL debut against the Falcons was anti-climactic. Sims rushed for just 23 yards on eight carries. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have long awaited the rookie to get on the field… but it looks like he isn’t yet one-hundred percent.
Ben Roethlisburger, Pittsburgh Steelers, (QB)
Big Ben had three solid fantasy performances three weeks in a row and Week 10 wasn’t necessarily a MAJOR bust. However, it probably wasn’t what Big Ben owners were looking for. The past two weeks have produced over 50 point fantasy games Roethlisburger, depending on your league of course. However this week was less than half that. And with a 20-13 loss to the Jets… Big Ben wasn’t looking great.
Surprises
Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers, (RB)
Carlos Hyde rushed four times for 36 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers win against New Orleans. He got a touchdown early in the game and unfortunately did not see the ball again until overtime, but he made the time worth it with another touchdown in the extra period. Frank Gore got most of the touches however, at 24.
C.J. Anderson, Denver Broncos, (RB)
Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball are banged up, and Anderson appears to be the Denver back of choice. Anderson had 13 carries for 90 rushing yards and four catches on seven targets for 73 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 10. Looks like he’s a double-threat, on receiving and rushing yards!
Predictions
Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins, (QB)
Griffin made a return in Week 9, after suffering an injury in Week 2. In his return to the field, Griffin completed 18 passes for 251 yards, with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against the Vikings, while also adding 24 rushing yards on seven carries. He’s coming off a bye-week to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have the 31st ranked pass defense. Barring another injury, Griffin should be a good play this week.
Mychal Rivera, Oakland Raiders, (TE)
Rivera is coming off three pretty solid performances, in fantasy perspective. Rivera caught 6 of 6 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Derek Carr throws the ball almost 40 times per game, which gives Rivera a solid fantasy value.
