Three NFL games are played every Thanksgiving. When fans think of these football games, most times they think of the Detroit Lions who have played on Thanksgiving since the 1930’s and the Dallas Cowboys, who have played since the 1960’s. This year the Lions played the Chicago Bears, the Cowboys played the Eagles, and the third game was played between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
Let’s take a look at the these games from a fantasy perspective:
The Lions defeated the Bears 34-17
Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall combined for just 54 yards last week, but it seems they made up for it this week. Alshon Jeffrey caught nine of 13 passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns during Thursday afternoon’s game. Brandon Marshall had six catches on 11 passes for 42 yards and no touchdowns. It seems that Alshon Jeffrey was the wideout to have!
Calvin Johnson had a season-high 11 catches on 16 targets for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Many have said that Johnson was on the decline, but his 30+ fantasy point game may suggest otherwise.
The Eagles dominated the Cowboys 33-10
Tony Romo had an abysmal performance on Thursday: 18 of 29 passes for 199 yards, no touchdown passes and two interceptions. This is the first time he failed to throw a touchdown pass in 39 games. Hopefully Romo will be back on track in Week 14 against a soft Chicago Bears defense.
Thursday’s game showed a season high for the Eagle’s star running back Lesean McCoy who ran 25 times for 159 yards and scored one touchdown. This makes two weeks in a row McCoy has had a great performance for fantasy owners.
The San Francisco 49ers fell to the Seattle Seahawks 3-19
Hopefully Colin Kaepernick owners left him sitting on the bench! Obviously he threw no touchdown passes, as the 49er scored just three points. Kaepernick completed 16 of 29 passes for 121 yards, threw two interceptions, and was sacked four times. It was a rough day of football for this QB!
While the Seahawks had a dominate win over the 49ers, Marshawn Lynch owners were probably a little disappointed. Lynch had 20 carries for 104 yards and one reception for seven yards. This makes the third soft week in a row for Lynch, since Week 10 when he scored over 35 fantasy points.
