Before climbing the R&B charts in the early 1990s, Elgin Baylor Lumpkin started out as one of the members of the Rochester, New York-based music company known as Swing Mob. It was during this time that Lumpkin was able to connect with future hip-hop icons Missy Elliott and Timbaland, who both became his primary collaborative partners; even helping him produce his debut album titled Ginuwine…The Bachelor.
Released in 1996, Ginuwine immediately reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with the break out single known as, “Pony.”
The track helped highlight Ginuwine’s smooth, sensual vocals, while also framing him as a pioneer within the industry due to the type of experimental production style Timbaland utilized when producing the record.
Fast forward three years and despite separating from his original team, Ginuwine partnered with R. Kelly to release his second album called, 100% Ginuwine. The album offered a number of fan favorite hits, including “Differences,” which successfully reached number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

Tour Reviews
Greenville, MS
It was one of the best concerts I have been to in a long, long time. He was extremely charismatic and did a great job interacting with the audience.
He performed for over two hours and came back out on stage for two additional encores.
Favorite Moment: Getting to hang out with him after the concert was over!!!

Ginuwine is amazing live and super down to earth as a performer. He was extremely personable with the crowd, often going into the background of each song he performed.
Since this was my first time seeing him, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the entire concert blew me and my friends completely away as his vocal chords, stage presence, and overall routine were all extremely well done.
Favorite Moment: He actually spoke to me from the stage, saying that “I see you out there” when pointing directly to me!
