The buzz is in the air! Tuesday the Atlanta Hawks will tip off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Philips Arena. Everyone is excited because this means Lebron James will be in town, and fans will have an opportunity to see the star in action on the court.
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 17 with a deafening score of 127-98. The Hawks went on to win their next three games, putting them on a five game winning streak. Unfortunately they were upset by the struggling Milwaukee Bucks, 107-77. This seemed to be a fluke, as the next night the Hawks came back to beat the Bucks, 90-85. It may not have been a pretty game, but it put Atlanta back on the path to winning.
The Hawks currently have a 22-8 record, and remain 1st in the Southeast Division. Another win against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will certainly give Atlanta some bragging rights.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers currently have a winning record of 18-12, and are ranked second in the Central Division. While the Cavs may be winning, they aren’t doing quite as well as many fans have hoped. Lebron James’ return to the team was supposed to be a glorious step to greatness for Cleveland, but with losses such as last night’s 103-80 defeat to the Pistons, greatness is yet to be seen. The Pistons are a 7-23 record team, and it should have been an easy win for the Cavs.
Many have blamed the disconnect on the Cavaliers team to first-year coach, David Blatt. It has been said that Blatt hasn’t reached the team, that he does not have their full attention. Lebron James claims that while he, Blatt and the team may not fully know eachother, the head coach does have their attention.
December 30th will be a game to see, as the Cavaliers try to make a comeback and answer for the loss the Hawks handed them. A loss for Lebron James may be a double blow, as December 30th is also the star player’s 30th birthday. If you’d like to see match-up in action, check out some tickets still available on the secondary market. While this game has been one of the most anticipated of the season, there are still plenty of great seats available! Game time is at 7:30pm on Tuesday.
