Atlanta concert fans are in luck – this year’s Music Midtown lineup is one of the best in recent history! Artists such as, John Mayer, Jack White, and Eminem will rock out at Piedmont Park in ATL. The gates open Friday, September 19 at 4:00 pm, as Ron Pope throws it down on the AT&T Live Stage.
With so many great performers playing at once, it’s tough to decide with rock n’ roller to watch. We’ve scoped out the map and devised a plan that will allow you to watch each major headliner.
Friday’s Helpful Guide
Grab a cold Sweetater and enjoy some rock from Georgia native Ron Pope. Pope’s latest album Calling Off The Dogs was released in January. Bear Hands is a band that I’m very excited to see. Their single, “Giants”, is one of the best Indie songs I’ve listened to this summer. They are set to perform at 6:00 pm on the AT&T Live Stage.
Friday starts to heat up once Run DMC appears at 7:00 pm. I’ll be at Run’s show until 7:30 and then head over to watch Iggy Azalea.
Mark my words, Lorde will rock the house at 8:00 pm and you will not want to miss her live appearance. Following Lorde, I’ll bring it down a notch with Georgia’s own John Mayer. Mayer’s show will probably have one of the largest crowds at the festival. So you may want to arrive early if you want a front row seat.
Then I’ll end the evening with rocker Jack White from the band the White Stripes.
Saturday’s Helpful Guide
Fortunately, Saturday opens with two chill bands, as I’m sure many fans will be exhausted from Friday’s awesome concert lineup.
Magic Man’s hit “Paris” will be fun to see live. I’ll probably swing by Sleeper Agent, who’s playing at the same time. At 4:00 pm, Atlanta will be duh-duh-duhing along with Third Eye Blind. Decatur, GA native, B.O.B, hits the stage at 5:00 pm. Luckily, I’ll be able to swing by Fitz and the Tantrums at 6.
If you thought Music Midtown was dipping out on Southeastern talent, Rock and Rock Hall of Famer Greg Allman will be also be performing from 7 – 8 pm on Saturday. Allman is best-known for his band that originated in Macon, Georgia, The Allman Brothers. He’s been selling out arenas the last few years, while touring with friends such as Zac Brown. That is why I expect Zac Brown to join him on stage.
Zac Brown and Eminem close out the festival. You will definitely have time to see both musicians as they’ll be performing for two full hours.
