Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood is one of the finest concert venues in Atlanta. The wooded area creates an intimate experience for events in the summer. This past season, the venue welcomed prestigious artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews Band. Both concerts sold out quickly. Fortunately, pricing on the secondary market is always cost friendly for Aaron’s. Our guide covers how to find the best price on tickets for the venue formerly known as HiFi Buys Amphitheater.
Aaron’s Amphitheater History
The venue opened in 1989 as Lakewood Amphitheater. Since then, the venue has partnered with several businesses headquartered in Atlanta, GA for the naming rights. At one point, the concert hall was known as the Coca-Cola Amphitheater and then HiFi Buys Amphitheater.
Why so many naming changes? Well, Coca-Cola only signed naming rights through 2000. Then HiFi Buys was abolved in 2008 and the arena needed another sponsor. It wasn’t until 2009, that Atlanta’s own furniture and appliance store, Aaron’s, jumped in and renamed the venue Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood.
The amphitheater has hosted notable bands such Eric Clapton, Linkin Park, Depeche Mode, and Phish. Many of the artists return to the venue since they believe it has the best acoustics in Atlanta.
Two years ago, I saw The Black Keys rock the venue. The concert sounded superb. I’m looking forward to comparing the acoustics when the band performs at Philips Arena in December.
In addition to having great acoustics, the venue has an amazing draft beer selection. Including several Georgia breweries such as, Sweetwater and Terrappin.
