Taylor Swift and the “1989 Tour”
Taylor Swift has announced “The 1989 World Tour.” Kicking off in Louisiana on May 20, 2015, the tour will hit North America and Europe before heading to Australia in December 2015. She will end her tour with a Halloween show at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. There are some gaps in the released schedule, leaving many fans hoping that she will be adding tour dates.
Taylor will play two shows in several venues, including: Gilette Stadium, Rexall Place, Gila River Arena, Staples Center, Pepsi Center, Xcel Energy Center, Nationwide Arena, Sprint Center, Bridgestone Arena, Rogers Center, Century Link Center, and Scottrade Center. She will make her way South to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta nearing the end of her tour, on October 24, 1015.
Taylor’s Opening Acts
Vance Joy, an Australian singer-song writer will be Taylor’s opening act. Joy released his debut studio album Dream Your Life Away in September, 2014. His song “Riptide” was voted Number 1 on the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100, and even covered by Taylor Swift on BBC Radio.
Shawn Mendes will join Vance Joy as an opening act in the “1989” tour on select dates. Mendes was discovered on the popular social media app “Vine” after posting 6 seconds of himself singing “As Long as You Love Me.” He was signed by Island Records, and his first EP released in July reached Number 1 on Itunes in 37 minutes.
“1989,” A Record-Breaking Album
Taylor Swifts album, “1989” was released last Monday, and is set to be a record-breaking release. While only projected to sell orginially sell 700,00 albums, it is now projected to sell upwards of 1.3 million. Swift will be the top selling artist since 2002 and the top-grossing female artist EVER if she reaches those sales, surpassing Eminem and Britney Spears. She will also be the best-selling artist of 2014, as not one person or group has yet gone platinum. It will be her third consecutive album to sell more than 1 million copies in a week.
