Humble Beginnings
Usher has been performing R&B for over 20 years. He grew up in Chatanooga, TN and began singing in the church choir directed by his mother. Once his family realized his abilities, they moved to Atlanta, GA for a more opportunistic setting for their talented boy. He released an album with a group called NuBeginnings at age 11, and was spotted by a scout in a Star Search competition at age 13. By the age of 14 he made his first solo debut album.
Rising to Fame
Rising to fame with the release of his second album, “My Way,” Usher was on the map with his first Hot 100 Billboard #1 hit, “Nice and Slow.” In 2004, his album “Confessions” went Diamond and sold over 20 million copies.To top it off, the album contained four number-one hits: “Yeah!”, “Burn”, “Confessions Part II”, and “My Boo.”
The success didn’t stop there: he’s won 17 Billboard Music Awards, nine ASCAP awards, eight Soul Train Music Awards and eight Grammy Awards, among many others. He even became part-owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005!
Usher: The UR Experience Tour in Atlanta
Usher hasn’t slowed down yet, starting his UR: Usher Experience tour this fall with 27 cities including in Atlanta, Georgia. Usher will be performing on December 9th, at Philips Arena.
Special guests include August Alsina and DJ Cassidy. “With The UR Experience, I want to give my fans an ever-changing live show full of surprises and special guests,” says Usher. He will perform songs spanning over his 20 year career, as well as new music from his upcoming eighth studio album.
