The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets have a long history together. Since 1962, the teams have played each other nearly 700 times.
They have battled for the National League Championship twice. The Mets swept the Braves in three games in the 1969 National League Champion Series, NLCS (and later went on to win the World Series). Thirty years later, the Braves got their revenge, defeating the Mets four games to two in the 1999 NLCS.
Getting to the Braves Game from Sandy Springs or Dunwoody

If you’re traveling by car you can take the GA 400 to the Connector and exit at Capitol Avenue. Signs will lead you to available parking. Build in extra time for rush hour congestion.
On the other hand, you may want leave your car at home and avoid Atlanta’s delightful afternoon traffic altogether. In that case, hop on MARTA and get off at the Georgia State University station (to walk the rest of the way) or West End Station (to catch the MARTA Braves Shuttle).
What Special Events Are Happening During the Atlanta Braves – New York Mets Games in June?
There are several events happening during this series. The June 19th game features Friday Night Fireworks. It’s also the start of the third annual Heritage Weekend. Heritage Weekend celebrates Atlanta prominent role in civil rights history and the role baseball has played in advancing civil rights.
On Saturday, June 20th, Atlanta native Yung Joc will perform in the Plaza before the game. Boyz II Men will perform that same night following the game.
The Sunday, June 21st game includes Father’s Day Catch on the Field, a great way to thank Dad for being your favorite All-Star.
Getting to the game early will ensure access to convenient parking locations. Game time on Friday is 7:35 p.m. Saturday’s game starts at 7:10 p.m and Sunday’s starts at 5:05 p.m. You’ll want to arrive at least one hour before the first pitch.
You can use the extra time to visit one of the dozens of food concession stands at Turner Field. You can also pay a visit to Monument Grove, a free area outside the stadium that includes statues of Braves legends like Hank Aaron, Phil Niekro and Ty Cobb.
